I. Project Background
This customer mainly engages in the processing and sales of various types of steel pipes, with products used in petrochemical, municipal water supply, and steel structure engineering fields. With the increase in order volume and higher product quality requirements, the customer's original surface treatment methods could no longer meet the needs of production capacity and quality.
After preliminary technical communication and solution confirmation, the customer ultimately chose a through-type shot blasting machine customized by our company. The equipment adopts a roller conveyor system and can continuously process steel pipes of different diameters and lengths.
II. Equipment Configuration and Technical Features
The main configuration of the through-type shot blasting machine delivered this time is as follows:
**Conveying System**: Utilizes a variable frequency speed-regulating roller conveyor. The conveying speed can be adjusted according to the steel pipe specifications and cleaning requirements. The lengths of the input and output roller conveyors are customized according to the customer's site layout.
**Shot Blasting System**: Equipped with multiple high-efficiency shot blasters, arranged above and to the sides of the steel pipe, ensuring uniform impact on all surfaces of the steel pipe's outer wall.
**Shot Circulation System**: Employs a combination of screw conveyor and bucket elevator to achieve automatic shot recovery, screening, and recycling.
**Dust Removal System**: Equipped with a high-efficiency cartridge dust collector. Dust emission concentrations meet environmental standards, ensuring a clean working environment.
**Control System**: Employs PLC control with a touchscreen operating interface. It can store multiple sets of process parameters, facilitating switching between different steel pipe specifications.
III. On-site Installation and Commissioning
After the equipment arrived at the customer's site, our technicians immediately commenced installation work. The installation process included roller conveyor positioning, shot blasting chamber assembly, dust removal system connection, electrical wiring, and system commissioning. The entire installation and commissioning cycle took approximately 12 days.
During commissioning, technicians conducted test blasting on steel pipes of different diameters. Based on the cleaning results, they adjusted the shot blaster angle, roller speed, and shot flow rate to ensure the cleanliness standards required by the customer were met.
IV. Cleaning Effect Demonstration
After the equipment was put into operation, the customer expressed satisfaction with the cleaning effect. The following is a comparison before and after cleaning:
**Before Cleaning**: The steel pipe surface had rolled oxide scale, slight rust, and oil stains, and the surface color was uneven.
**After Cleaning**: The oxide scale and rust were completely removed, revealing a uniform metallic color. The surface cleanliness reached Sa2.5 standard. The steel pipe surface exhibited uniform roughness, providing a good adhesion base for subsequent coating.
V. Advantages of Through-Type Shot Blasting Machines in Steel Pipe Cleaning
Through-type shot blasting machines have the following outstanding advantages in cleaning the outer walls of steel pipes:
**High Efficiency of Continuous Operation**: Steel pipes are continuously conveyed via roller conveyors, and loading and unloading can be seamlessly integrated with upstream and downstream processes, making it suitable for mass production.
**Uniform Cleaning Effect:** Multiple shot blasters project shot from different angles, and the steel pipe rotates simultaneously during its journey, ensuring even impact on all surfaces of the outer wall.
**Easy Operation:** The PLC control system can store process parameters for various steel pipes, allowing for one-click recall when switching specifications.
**Environmentally Compliant:** Equipped with a dust removal system, dust is prevented from escaping during operation, meeting environmental protection requirements.
**Low Operating Costs:** Shot is automatically recycled, resulting in low consumption; the equipment has a low failure rate, and maintenance costs are controllable.
VI. Conclusion
The successful installation and commissioning of this through-feed shot blasting machine at the customer's site once again validates our company's technical strength and service capabilities in the field of steel pipe surface treatment. We will continue to monitor the equipment's operation and provide timely technical support and after-sales service to our customers.
